What is Splinterlands?
Splinterlands is a digital, collectible card game built on blockchain technology. It is similar in concept to games like Magic the Gathering and Hearthstone where you build up a collection of cards, which all have various different stats and abilities, and use them to battle other players in skill-based matches. By using blockchain technology, players can buy, sell, and trade their digital assets freely just as if they were physical cards, and all transactions are recorded publicly and immutably. *
@splinterlands is a @play2earn card game built on blockchain technology. There are several ways to earn real money playing the game. Also if you own cards on your account, that means you really ‘own’ it and nobody can take it away from you. You can sell or rent your cards to other players.

One of the things that I really like about this game is I don’t have to spend too much time on it. When the match begins you can click the fast forward button and play it 2x or 3x speed. There is also a ‘skip to results’ button so that you can see the result right away. This feature can save us so much time and still enjoy the game.
How to Start?
Splinterlands is free to play, however in order to earn real-valued rewards and unlock the full potential of blockchain-based gaming, players are required to obtain the Summoner’s Spellbook. The Summoner’s Spellbook can be purchased in the in-game shop for $10 via PayPal or various cryptocurrencies. Purchasing the Summoner’s Spellbook allows you to choose a unique account name, access your blockchain account keys, unlock the ability to earn rewards with real value, and more! **

You get starter cards after you bought the Summoner’s Spellbook. It gives you more than 90 cards that you can use in battles. There is an ‘S mark’ on every starter card. You do not own those cards, so you cannot sell it or rent it out. You can only use them in battles.
Featured Card - 'Fire Spitter'
Splinterlands
I want to introduce one monster to you. Its name is Fire Spitter. It’s a cute little fire dragon. Level 1 Fire Spitter costs 4 mana, which is very nice since it has a 2 ranged attack. 4 speed is pretty high and it has 4 health. It has the ability ‘Flying’. Flying increases the chance of evading melee attacks or ranged attacks from non-flying enemies. When it is placed in the back end, it can sometimes evade sneak attacks from enemies, which makes the team more stable.

■ Tell us about your lineup. Explain why you put each card in that position and why they are a good fit with the monster.
I placed the Clay Golem in the front end and Chain Spinner in the back end as tanks. I prefer to put Fire Spitter in the back end, but since this battle gives every monster the ‘Sneak’ ability, I placed the Chain Spinner instead to protect Fire Spinner. So that Fire Spinner is safe in between two tanks and deals freely.
■ Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?
Chain Spinner endured damage much better than I expected and with the protection of two tanks and armors, I won the battle easily. I used Drake Of Arnak as a summoner with a light splinter this time, but next time I want to try using Fire Spitter with an earth splinter, especially with Brownie. Brownie has the ability ‘Swiftness’ and I think it will be a good fit with Fire Spitter in the back end position.
■ Do you like the monster? Why or why not?
I chose to rent Fire Spitter because in the past few battles I met Fire Spitters and my monsters missed hitting it a few times and I lost the battles. Evading attacks didn’t really happen a lot in my deck, but I like the 4 mana costs because it is not common to have 2 attacks with only 4 mana costs.
I’m really enjoying the game! All the strategies and battles are exciting and fun. What do you guys think? Do you wanna know more about Splinterlands? Stay tuned. In the next article, I will talk about another monster and battles.
